Love is in the Air

Lately I've been in a Valentine's kinda mood. This year it's all about pink, rose petals and colored glass.

My china hutch.  The heart wreath is just a straw wreath that I wrapped in fabric and the AnnaSophia (with a little help) pinned fabric pieces all over.  This gave her something to help with while I was making the swag for my office.

I made the heart swag for the window it says "Happy Valentines"  The angels are from the Bradford Exchange.  I have about 2 dozen.  I'm still looking for ways to use these lovelys.

A close-up of the window swag

Side table

A close-up of the tiered server on the side table.  It miniture tea cups, teapots, and birds nested in vintage lace with a few jewels thrown in.

The coffee table.  The pink tray is a vintage vanity tray that I spray painted.

The dining room.

Sideboard.  The glass vases were Dollar Store finds and the lovely pitcher came from Home Goods.  How could I resist?

My office.  AnnaSophia wanted to help me make this swag - unfortunately for her she's only 4 and tieing (sp ?) is not her thing. So she made the heart wreath.  This is an old mailroom divider that I found years ago.  It is one of my favorite pieces.  It has 30 cubbies.  I use the top cubbies for bills, etc and the bottom for school.   As you can see by the overflowing state of the boxes it time to do the taxes.... YECH!!!!

Another view of the office.  My favorite piece here is the pink one on the left.  It was a Christmas sale item from.....Home Goods, of course!

The kitchen.  I had a few sparkly hearts from Michaels and some leftover hears from the window swag.  This is another cubby that I found a few years ago.  It holds my mixing bowls and cook books.  On the top are the drink stations - tea on the left (the girls) and hot chocolate on the right (the boys) LOL :)

The entrance.  Unfortunately I couldn't fit in my topiary tree with pink lights that is on the right.

Closeup of the candle.  I love these glass stones from Michaels.  They're various shades of pink, green and clear.

The piano.

Well this is what has been done so far.  I'm still working on the family room and the bedroom.  I'll post pictures of these when I get them done.

Blessings,

I'm Bloggin' Again

I needed to stop blogging for awhile. Too much was going on and way too many things needed my attention. Plus, this little elctronic box of mine was becoming a much bigger distraction than it ought. So I stepped back. Just to catch you up, while I was gone we:

- finished up the school year,
- Nick turned 7,
- Alex, Don, Will & Tom did a 1 week missions trip with World Changers,
- school started again (yes, we start early - end of July),
- Don broke his wrist playing basketball,
- Tom and the kids spent a few days in PA with his mom,
- Tom & I celebrated our 25 anniversary,
- I threw out my back/hip,
- we went to the NASCAR race at Dover,
- Laurel turned 13,
- Alex turned 19,
- Tom and I both turned 25 again (LOL), and
- AnnaSophia turned 4.

It exhausts me just typing it. :) And that's just the big stuff that I can remember. Mostly though I spent time with God renewing our relationship and time with my husband. He needed (needs) to know that I love him way more that this silly, old computer. Anyway, I'm am here and I'll be posting everyonce and awhile.

Blessngs,

Theresa

Fridays at my House

Ok, so I'm a day late and probably a dollar short as well. Here is the latest posting of my home. It is my Hoosier cabinet/desk. I bought this piece about 3 years ago at the antique store. I love Hoosier cabinets. If I had the room I would collect them. This one was in my sunroom until this spring. The desk that I had was too small and I needed something bigger. So in came the trusty Hoosier. The tabletop comes out for my laptop. And there's lots of drawer and cabinet space to hide all the "stuff".

Have a great week!!

Blessings,

Theresa

"Beautiful in God's Eyes

I have been reading the book "Beautiful in God's Eyes" by Elizabeth George. I highly recommend this book to any woman that wishes to honor God by becoming a true Proverbs 31 woman. The author writes in such a way as to inspire and to make this goal actually appear achievable. I find myself encouraged to change and rethink my values and goals in this area. Each of the 24 chapters is based on a part of Proverbs 31:10-31. And each of these chapters are full of challenges for each woman to evaluate.

The two challenges I am working on right now are: 1) To grow in emotional stability and 2) To know that my husband in assured in my loyalty. Emotional stability is tough for me right now because I feel as if I am controlled by my horomones instead of me controlling them. This is most likely not going to be a challenge I will master overnight. Loyalty is a checklist that I need to evaluate. Elizabeth lists 10 different areas in which a wife must be loyal to her husband: money, children, home, reputation, fidelity, emotions, happiness, wisdom, conduct and love. I believe that I have earned a passing grade in some of these areas, but others need work.

These are just two of the challenges listed in the first 4 chapters. That's the nice thing about this book - each woman will be challenged differently based on her own strenghts and weaknesses and her current personal situation. Please pray for me as I strive to be a better wife and mom.

Blessings,

Theresa

The Flower Gardens

I was feeling kind of artsy today, so I went outside to take some pictures. Here are various pictures of flowers from my gardens. Enjoy!

Fridays at my House

Here are some pictures of our latest acquisition. A wooden picnic table for the pocket prince and princess. It's just the right size for them to eat at during all our summer BBQs. These are pictures of our little pocket princess “helping” her daddy stain the table. Have a great week.

STEPPING UP 2009

Stepping Up 2009 was fantastic. Nick, Laurel, and Will all received their Stepping Up Certificates. And, of course, Alex and Don graduated. The theme for the night was “Black & White”. The Senior graduates all wore tuxedos (sooooo handsome) and for graduation they wore black gowns. The 8th grade graduates had white gowns. The Youth Temple at Ocean Grove was splendid with the white & black decorations. It was nice to see that even most of the family members dressed in the theme colors. Stu Hooten was a great host, who kept things moving right along. The talent portion of the night was excellent. It’s so nice to see these wonderfully talented homeschoolers displaying their skills. Don & Will participated by playing “As a Deer” on keyboard & guitar. Thanks to everyone who made it such a great night!

The Graduates

On Friday, May 15th, Alex & Don graduated from high school. I can’t begin to tell you how proud Tom & I are. Its hard to believe that two of my little boys have grown into such wonderful, handsome, moral young men. They both are hard-workers, very responsible, full of character and both have a love for God and Jesus that shines through all that they do.

Boys,

We love you and we can’t wait to see God has planned for your lives. May you be blessed in all that you do.

Love,

Mom & Dad
